Excitement for the festival just increased as Lindsay Immel’s, fantastic hand-drawn Savannah Map illustration has been chosen as our official 2018 Poster.
Tell us a bit about yourself?
I was born and raised in Savannah and have lived in the downtown area for the last 6-7 years. Ten years ago I and three friends started a small design firm, Redhaus. We all work from our homes, but our core is in Portland, OR as most of our clients are located in that region.
What was your inspiration for your winning design?
As a graphic designer, I spend a lot of time on the computer. I recently started to incorporate hand-drawn illustrations in some of my work and also just for fun. It’s nice to step away from the screen. Last winter, inspired by what I believe to be a SCAD ‘tote’ with the map of Savannah on it, I created my own hand drawn piece of downtown Savannah. It hangs framed in my house. When I saw the poster design contest for the SFWF, I knew that would become the foundation for the poster entry. Basically, it’s combining two things that I not only love but things that hold positive motivation in my life: this city and good design.
