Local artist draws on iconic Savannah landscapes to win poster contest

Savannah, GA (April 6, 2017) – Festival-goers have come to identify the Savannah Food & Wine Festival in part, by its annual poster design, which quickly became a collector’s item. In the fifth year of the festival, local artist, Brian MacGregor has painted a stunning depiction of the marshes encapsulated in a wine glass and surrounded by Savannah’s iconic live oak trees.

MacGregor is no stranger to the unique beauty of Savannah. After obtaining his BFA in illustration from SCAD, he opened a studio-gallery in City Market, where he has been showing his artwork for the past fifteen years.

“The 2017 Savannah Food & Wine Festival poster represents the dynamic interaction of color and a juxtaposition of Savannah’s varied landscapes,” said festival co-founder and director, Jan Gourley. “We are so thrilled to share Brian MacGregor’s design with festival enthusiasts, and to have the continued participation and support of talented, local SCAD alumni.”

“My oil paintings are inspired by the Collective Unconscious, utilizing a collection of thousands of people’s handwritten dreams, collaged and painted over,” said MacGregor, who has a portfolio at “If you look closely in the red of the wine glass, you can see some of the handwritten dreams peeking through the paint.”

This poster is a new piece in MacGregor’s series he calls “Mixology of Paint,” which focuses on playing with the abstract shape of glass and bottles within juxtaposing landscapes, painted in a dream-like style.

MacGregor’s poster prints will be available at Taste of Savannah, the signature event on Sat. Nov. 11. Throughout the week, Nov. 6-12, there are a bevy of events as part of the Savannah Food & Wine Festival. Visit for more information and tickets.
