We have a whole line-up of new events that will keep you on your toes and make your experience a memorable one. It’s like you’re going to an entirely different festival, but trust me, it’s still the humble Savannah Food & Wine Festival you’ve come to know and love. Be rest assured that we will still have our classic, signature events like the Celebrity Chef Tour Dinner, the Grand Reserve Tasting, the River Street Stroll, the Taste of Savannah and the Jazz & Bubbles Brunch, but this year, you can expect world records being made, master classes being taught and some dinners and parties that will leave you wanting more. This is one week you can’t miss!
What is the quintessential Savannah dish? Well, the Lowcountry Boil of course! This year, we’re setting our sites high by hoping to set a world record for the World’s Largest Lowcountry Boil. It’s the perfect way for all of the medal-winning Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon runners to celebrate. Please join us and help us set a world record with a fantastic party on the river with shrimp, music, Shrimp Eating Contests and more – a great preview to the Savannah Food & Wine Festival! Uncover the secrets behind the food and wine experts during the series of Master Classes at The Mansion on Forsyth Park where you will be guided on a culinary journey into the 700 Cooking School or Wine Cellar tasting room to learn techniques through smell, taste and touch. These classes provide very intimate, small class settings (limited to only 25 people) and fill up very quickly. We’re celebrating our rich wine history with the first-ever Georgia Grown Trustees Wine Challenge Dinner. The best of class Georgia wines will be awarded, while Georgia Grown chefs will be preparing a five-course ultimate Peach State dining experience. All of the culinary delights will be prepared with foods grown in Georgia and products made in Georgia, served with Georgia Gold Medal Award winning wines. Guests will get to meet the chefs and winemakers behind each course including Holly Chute, Matthew Roher, Dave Snyder, Todd Richards, Kasey Thexton and Brandy Williamson, and expect to have a Georgia winemaker sitting at your table! Grab your best flapper fringe, zoot suit and Fedora for the Secret Savannah Speakeasy! Come ready to meet the taste makers of what Savannah eats and drinks with small-plate tastings and libations aplenty. Taste Savannah’s best hand-crafted cocktails and craft brews and enjoy a wide array of music and entertainment, reminiscent of Savannah’s prohibition heydays. Wear your best prohibition-era attire to win a 2016 Savannah Food & Wine Festival Weekend Package for Two.
